The history of the city is both interesting and adventurous. In the area known today as Prodromos, on the left bank of the Pediaios river, a number of artifacts dating from the Chalcolithic period (3900 B.C.) were discovered, leading us to believe that here was the precursor of the contemporary Nicosia.
