INYO NATIONAL FOREST
While most of this enormous (1,798,638-acre) National Forestis in California, some 61,000 acres of the forest are located in Nevada. Included here are the White and Excelsior Mountains, with 13,140-foot Boundary Peak the highest point, along with some canyons. Camping ^s permitted. LAKE TAHOE NEVADA STATE PARK
13,000 acres, located along the northeast shore of large and sce-iic Lake Tahoe, which is on the California border, tpis state park has some small mountains, inland lakes, and conifer forests. Wildlife includes mule deer, black bear, and mountain lion.
Activities: Hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding are available on a small trail network, consisting largely of old roads. A section of the new Tahoe Rim Trail also passes through the park. Mountain biking is permitted on some trails. Cross-country skiing is a winter trail option.
Camping Regulations: Camping is restricted to two backcountry camping areas in the park.
Campfires are generally allowed, but are subject to being banned during summer months.
