The east-west and north-south thoroughfares cross at Munich’s epicenter, the Marienplatz, and connect the traffic rings at Karlsplatz (called Sta-chus by locals) in the west, Isartorplatz in the east, Odeonsplatz in the north, and Sendlinger Tor in the south.
