MORROW MOUNTAIN STATE PARK

Morrow Mountain State Park is located in the Uwharrie Mountains of central North Carolina, near Uwharrie National Forest. It includes several small mountains with elevations under 1,000 feet, including Morrow Mountain.

Three rivers flow through the park. The area is largely hardwood-forested with some pine, and also mountain laurel. White-tailed deer, bobcat, and fox are among the wildlife.

Activities: Hiking and backpacking are possible on over 14 miles of trails, and there are also 15 miles of bridle trails. Horses and bikes are not allowed on hiking trails. Fishing is available along the rivers.

Camping Regulations: Primitive camping is limited to four backpack campsites which are located in one area. A fee is charged to camp here each night, and a permit must be obtained from the park office. No campfires are allowed.
