In the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Sanctuary Vineyards is deeply into pies for the big day. Photographer Brooke Mayo, who often shoots weddings at the venue, reports, Apple and peach are very common summer pies; fall pies are sweet potato and pumpkin.
The Ranch at Laguna Beach in Southern California dishes up lemon-meringue tarts and apple pies at weddings but if a couple is interested in a different seasonal pie or tart flavor, the team is happy to accommodate. Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in Hawaii serves mini pies in flavors like blueberry, apple and pineapple. Meanwhile, mini banana pies refresh guests at Los Sue±os Marriott Ocean and Golf Resort in Costa Rica.
Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, in Los Cabos, Mexico, bakes warmed Granny Smith-apple tarts for receptions. At Malliouhana, an Auberge Resort on Anguilla, tropical pies like mango/passion fruit and pineapple/coconut often star on reception menus. And in South Florida, Dara Gorman, owner of caterer Artichoke & Company, bakes Key-lime pies for parties.
