Cairns – Aboriginal Cultural Daintree Rainforest Tour

Today is gonna be really exciting. We’re gonna experience some aboriginal culture and heritage and venture into the Daintree Rainforest. The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest living rainforest in the world and the only one to survive the ice age. Mossman Gorge is one of the shortest rivers in Queensland.

It’s a natural spring that provides fresh drinking water to the surrounding areas. We’ve stopped here in a private little swimming area in the middle of the rainforest. The water is so clear. Yes.

And chilly! That’s the lake. So now we’re heading to the water and we’re gonna do some hunting. Yeah this is our traditional fishing day so we’ve been doing this since little kids. The whole thing is about being aboriginal. That way people can come walk with us and experience the same experience as aboriginal.

If you have a spear, you have no fear. We’re getting into crab territory I think. So we’re all walking in a line and trying to intercept them. Whoa, here it is. I really, really didn’t think I was going to catch one today, but I did.

Pretty amazing this is a total thrill. It has been so much fun experiencing aboriginal culture firsthand and adventuring through the rainforest, spearfishing for crabs, and now, enjoying the fruits of our labor. This has truly been an incredible day.
