HOLIDAYS AND FESTIVALS OF BRITAIN

Holidays: New Year’s Day (Jan. 1); Good Friday (Apr. 9); Easter Sunday and Monday (Apr. 11 and 12); May Day (May 1); Bank Holiday (May 31); and Christmas (Dec. 25).

Festivals: One of the largest festivals in the world is the Edinburgh International Festival (Aug. 10-30); also highly recommended is the Fringe Festival (Aug. 3-25). Manchester’s Gay Village hosts Mardi Gras (late Aug.). Muddy fun abounds at the Glastonbury Festival, Britain’s biggest homage to rocks (June 27-29).
