Christies and Sotheby’s are well-known art and furniture auction houses where the bids may run into the millions.
Hampton Court Palace, on the outskirts of London, is a major tourist attraction. It also attracted Henry VIII, who appropriated it from Cardinal Wolsey, who had built it for himself. It can be reached by road or by boat on the Thames River. That river leads northward to Oxford and beyond, a great river for boating with plenty of pretty riverside towns.
