Spectral Ectoplasm
Another commonly mistaken photo is one showing ectoplasm, which is believed to be a form of spirit energy. Though it may be a valid paranormal event, there are many non paranormal things that can be its cause.
Cigarette smoke is a frequent cause. When analyzing a photo with suspect ectoplasm or strange mist in the picture, it is not uncommon to see an astray nearby or a cigarette in someone’s hand. When we point this out, the person will swear no one was smoking in the room until we point out someone in the picture with a cigarette in their hand. The truth is, sometimes the obvious is overlooked.
