BY CAR: The least expensive way for two or more people to reach New York City is by car. Interstate 80. from Sacramento to New York crosses Chicago and Pennsylvania. The southern route is Interstate 40 or the more familiar Route 66 from the southwest through Arkansas and Tennessee to join Interstates 81 and 95 from the South.
Motorists from Canada would use Interstate 87 from Montreal.
