HARRISON-CRAWFORD STATE FOREST

Located next to the Ohio River in southern Indiana, Harrison-Crawford State Forest has hilly terrain with escarpments overlooking the Ohio and Blue Rivers, plus limestone caves, forests of hardwoods, and wildlife including deer.

Activities: There are 45 miles of trails for hiking and backpacking, including the 25-mile Adventure Hiking Trail. Difficulty is easy to moderate. The forest also has nearly 100 miles of horse trails. Canoeing is possible on the Blue River, and fishing is available as well. Hunting is permitted in season.

Camping Regulations: Camping is restricted to four shelters for backpackers along the Adventure Trail. Visitors should register at the gatehouse or forest office. Campfires are allowed, but a stove is recommended for cooking.
