COLLIER-SEMINOLE STATE PARK
6,423 acres. CollierSeminole is in southern Florida, northwest of Everglades National Park and west of Big Cypress National Preserve. The Blackwater River flows through the area, along with some other waterways.
Included in the park is a 4,760-acre wilderness preserve, consisting of a mangrove swamp. There are also cypress swamps, marshes, and a tropical hammock. Among the wildlife are black bear, Florida panther, and crocodile.
Activities: Canoeing is available on the Blackwater River and other waterways, and canoes may be rented here. Hiking and backpacking are possible on a 6.5-mile loop trail.
Camping Regulations: One primitive camping area is available for canoeists, and there’s another
single trailside campsite for backpackers. It’s necessary to register before camping, and a small fee is charged. Campfires are allowed at designated sites. Pets are prohibited. Winter is the best time to visit.
