Though public transit in Oxford shuts down sometime after 11pm, nightlife can last all night long. After happy hour at the pubs, head up Walton Street or down Cowley Road for late-night clubs and a mix of ethnic restaurants and exotic shops.

The Bridge, 6-9 Hythe Bridge St. (342-526; www.bridgeoxford.co.uk). Dance to R&B, and hip hop; dance and cheese on 2 floors. Erratically frequented by big student crowds. Cover £5-7. Open M-Sa 9pm-2am.
MUSIC AND THEATERS
The City of Oxford Orchestra, (744 457). Plays a subscription series at the Shel-donian and in college chapels during summer. Tickets £10-20.
The Oxford Playhouse, 11-12 Beaumont St. ( 798 600). Hosts amateur and professional plays as well as music and dance performances. Box office opens M-Tu and Th-F at 9:30am, W at 10am, and closes after curtain. The playhouse also sells tickets at an 85% discount for venues all over city, including the New College Choir (305 305; www.ticketsoxford.com), one of the best boy choirs around. Box office open M, Tu and Th-Sa 9:30am-6:30pm, Su 10am-6:30pm or 30 min before last show.)
