All right, everyone knows the Battle of Bunker Hill actually happened on Breed’s Hill (don’t you?). We also know which hill got the credit as evidenced by the Bunker Hill Pavilion. There’s more here than a stone monument; the multi-media extravaganza, Whites of their Eyes, is presented
in a theater-in-the-round with fourteen screens and a professional actor playing Paul Revere. It’s all designed to make you feel like you’re actually there, waiting to shoot until .well, you know. Admission is $2. The pavilion is open seven days a week from 9:30 ah. to 4 RM.; it stays open until 5 PM. from June through August.
About ten minutes away by foot, follow this with a visit to the actual Bunker Hill Monument. Though certainly not high-tech, the monument does offer dioramas depicting the famous battle and a 294-step climb to the top. Great view of the harbor too! Admission is free; hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Call (617) 242-5641 for information.
