HOSHINOYA TOKYO TOKYO, JAPAN

THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF THE JAPANESE CAPITAL

May not seem an obvious place to wind down from the wedding high, but that’s just the point – when you hit Tokyo, you’ll want to keep the good times rolling. At the Hoshinoya, sliding doors open to reveal a traditional-style inn of luxurious proportions. Large, low-lit tatami (reed) mat rooms have raised futon-style beds, huge day beds and power showers, as well as a deep tub that’s perfect for two. Clear an evening for the innovative multi-course menu in the basement restaurant, which combines French flair with Japanese ingredients in dishes such as Matsusaka beef and yuba millefeuille (a Japanese take on French pastry). Then head up to the 17th-floor outdoor natural hot spring, where you can gaze at the sky and listen to the soundtrack of the city. It’s a night-time must.
