In our family activities, we attended shows in the grand Walt Disney Theater; saw movies at the Buena Vista Theatre; looked at animated films and other family entertainment on a giant movie screen attached to the forward funnel out on deck; left out the game shows; but, karaoked and danced at the Studio Sea lounge with its “expansive stage, cozy director-style chairs, illuminated makeup mirrors and hanging television screens”.
In writing this particular section, I looked for and found a Disney photo of the family dressed for formal night. My son looked sharp, even whimsical, in his tuxedo; and, he told me, as I reminisced over it, that I looked quite tall, dark and handsome in mine.

I had to seem very tall to him – when he looked at it and compared our heights then – because I am six foot two inches when standing erect; and, in 2001, I was 59 compared to his nearly 7. Now, he is as tall as I am. I can wear some of his shoes; but, cannot get into any of his pants.
Both mother and daughter looked ever so beautiful in their dresses, each wearing a great big smile on their faces. The height comparison was roughly the same for them in the photo; but, now, the then 4+ is taller and bigger than her mother who was then 27. They trade shoes but not dresses.
As in all of my cruises, my dancing instantly puts me into the spotlight. Without fail – though it was only my second cruise then – it did so during the sail away party. In looking at the photo together, my son asked me if I remembered winning a dance contest. I told him no; and, he insisted that I did, saying that he clearly remembers me dancing and getting a medal.
I did get a medal; but, for being a VIP impersonator. The cruise director had noticed my dancing; and, had remembered me; thus, he chose me to go on stage and be a member of the popular Village People.
