Cusco – Archeological Park of Sacsayhuaman Half-Day Tour

Today we are just outside of Cusco and we are gonna explore some of the most impressive mysteries of architecture, ancient temples, and an entire archaeological park. The great part about today is we have our very own guide, Alan, and he knows all of the architecture, and mysteries, and temples, and everything. Isn’t that right? Right. Thank you very much for you visiting.

And so this was a city. They lived here? [Alan] Yes. This was a city. Approximately 1,000 people lived in this temple. This beautiful place behind me is called Sacsayhuama and it is a temple that was part of the ancient Incan capital.

And just a few steps from the ruins is a spectacular view of Cusco and you gotta check this out. You can see the central square, the cathedrals, Andes Mountains. This is one of the best views I’ve ever seen. We are now at Pucca Pucara, which is essentially, an ancient highway stop on the Incan trail. This was a way station. This was where they would come to get provisions and food when they were making a pilgrimage.

This cool little spot behind me is called Tambomachav and it’s an ancient spring and the Incans used to come here and treat it essentially, as a spa, as a recreation spa. And towards the top, you can see these four little quadrants and that’s what they used as altars for the mummies. This has been such a fun afternoon. I’ve learned all about the ancient Incan culture and all of these archaelogical sites are like right next to each other so you can see a lot in a short amount of time.
