Honeymoon at Logger’s Lodge SWEDEN

Cosy cabins don’t get much more remote than Logger’s Lodge, which stands alone in a white-powder-snow forest in northern Sweden. The decor in this just-for-two cabin is out-and-out Scandi chic, with a roaring fireplace at its centre, a starfish-worthy bed and a hefty rustic dining table (we gleefully discovered a bucket of Moët on ice atop ours when we arrived).

Spend your days doing as much or as little as you like; if the weather is good, wrap up for a bracing cross-country ski over glittering frozen lakes (in summer you can take a rowing trip under the midnight sun), then enjoy a hearty lunch, cooked over a fire by your own private chef in the surrounding boreal forest. In the early evening, pick your way past snow-heavy branches to your own sauna, beautifully positioned down a candle-lit path next to the Lodge, then sink into the al fresco hot tub and watch the stars burst into life over the enchanting woodlands (there’s no light pollution, so the night sky is super HD).

The Lodge is utterly private (and there’s no wi-fi; silence is the real luxury here), but owner Eric can arrange anything from snowy reindeer rides with Sami herders to bespoke photography sessions when the bewitching Northern Lights come out to play. THE LUXE TOUCH The food! Think caviar and blinis served with creamy Louis Roederer Champagne and elk filet mignon smothered in Madeira and blueberry jus. Heavenly hygge at its finest.

GO Best Served Scandinavia (bestserved.co.uk) offers two nights at Logger’s Lodge, full board, and one night atthe Treehotel, half board, from £2,580 per person, including flights, transfers and a husky-sledding excursion.
