This state park is located next to Little Missouri Bay, on enormous Lake Sakakawea, in the western part of North Dakota. The park is maintained in a wilderness condition.
Scenery here includes badlands, ridges and buttes, canyons, some intermittent streams, and the Little Missouri River. There are stands of juniper and cedar, with sage and cactus. Among the wildlife are mule deer, coyote, bobcat, and fox.
Activities: Hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding are possible on over 75 miles of trails. Horses may be rented near the park. Fishing is available along the river.
Camping Regulations: Backpack camping is allowed here, as are campfires. Some designated primitive sites are available. A permit is not required.
