Peoria Bradley University – Art Galleries
The University offers exhibits in two galleries: ;he Heuser Art Center Gallery and the Hartmann Center for the Performing Arts Gallery. These two galleries provide Bradley with the opportunity to present exhibitions that focus upon artists who work in alternative styles or thematic shows that heighten awareness of contemporary issues in the art world. Bradley University sponsors and organizes the Bradley National Print and Drawing Exhibition, the oldest continuous competition of its kind m the United States. This event expanded its boundaries and included international artists for the first time i» 1995. (Because of its size, the exhibition is hosted at four gallery sites in the community: Bradley Ur.versitys Heuser Art Center Gallery, The Hartmann Center Gallery, The Peoria Art Guild and Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences.) Also included in the exhibition program is the annual Jacob and Lorrie Bunn Lectureship in Photography, which brings a fine arts photographer or photojoumalist of national prominence to the campus. In addition, as part of the Universitys Visiting Artists Series, artists of national stature participate in the Master Print Program of Cradle Oak Press, Bradleys printmaking research studio. These visiting artists create limited editions of their work. The Galleries also host the thesis exhibitions of BFA, MA and MFA students. Faculty exhibitions and an undergraduate fine arts competition are held on a biennial basis. Also of possible interest on campus, exhibits in the Cullom-Davis Library often feature artworks.
