We said that we thought the built environment of Garden City was the Ginza. The Houhai Area is Blade Runner gone mad. It’s the shining glass egg of the adjacent Poly Theatre tips it over the edge. Only a few years ago it was under water. Every piece of land you stand on is reclaimed from the sea.
There are the usual brand names, stores and movie complex on the top floor. For food shopping, Coastal City has what we think is Shenzhen’s best Jusco. Poly Plaza has Shenzhen’s largest Carrefour. You can just imagine the decibel level in there. Coastal City has Shenzhen’s first Ice Hockey Club. No comment.
Lots of restaurants. At Coastal they are ranged around a very pleasant eat square. Don’t miss the Focaccino Italian Restaurant in Poly Plaza.
