We had no choice but to crown Soneva Kiri winner of this category, for both its unspoilt natural beauty and wildly imaginative concepts. Few resorts can compete with its magical location on Koh Kood, an untamed island reached via the hotel’s private plane.

It took more than five years to build the resort’s 35 dreamy pool villas overlooking the Gulf of hailand, and the painstaking lengths they went to really show. hatched open-air pavilions look out across sugary white beaches and verdant hills – all accessible to explore via your own electric buggy. We also applaud Soneva Kiri for its cool dining options. here aren’t many places you can sip mojitos in bamboo treepods’ for two, hoisted high among the tropical foliage, and have your meal delivered via waiters on zipwires. Want more? here’s also a Six Senses spa, a Willy Wonka-esque chocolate room and a jungle-enclosed outdoor cinema!
