The Best Beauty Sample Subscription Boxes for Travel

On this week’s We Hear, we’re exploring our favorite sample subscription boxes that’ll help you with packing. At this point, everyone knows someone who gets a monthly subscription box of something beauty and makeup related, or else, one that covers the health and wellness category.

We’re big fans of these boxes because they help with packing when you’re trying to plan for a getaway of any length. A major player in the beauty category, Birchbox, ships commentrs a monthly package of four to five samples of makeup, skin, and hair care, perfumes, and more. You can use your contents of your monthly box to pack your weekender bag with excellent Tocca hand cream or citrusy body spray. Birchbox also offers a men’s subscription, which delivers everything a male traveler needs, like Kiehl’s shaving balm, soaps, and even lightning cables or a packable duffel bag. The benefit of these subscriptions is that you’ll save time because you won’t have to transfer all of your creams, lotions, and soaps into tiny plastic bottles that may leak all over your clothes en route to your destination.

Ipsy is a Travel Savvy’s top pick and for $10 a month you’ll get five beauty, skin, or hair care items, fragrances, and other fun products delivered to your door, all by brands that are on the spectrum from Smashbox, Urban Decay, and Trust Fund Beauty to Josie Maran, Bobbi Brown, MAC, and more. Every month you’ll also get a small makeup tote to carry your samples in. FabFitFun is a similarly popular subscription service that delivers a sample box every three months and features a mix of beauty, fashion, fitness, wellness, and home products that help you feel good from the inside out. The box contains lots of fun things that add up to about a $200 average retail value, but you’ll only pay 50 bucks for your quarterly subscription. You’ll get great full-size beauty products but you might also get a variety of protein bars or workout gear, which are also super helpful when you’re traveling.

One of FabFitFun’s recent boxes contained a jump rope, which is an item I personally never leave home without. Jump ropes are light and easy to pack so regardless of how dire the hotel gym is, you’ll still be able to get a bit of exercise when you’re on the road. If you’re interested in a box that will deliver all-natural, cruelty-free products to your door for $15 a month, check out the Petit Vour. Their site says that Petit Vour is a luxury vegan destination for the decidedly fashionable, inspired by the finer things and curated for the modern ethical woman. That’s it for this week’s We Hear.
