Boston magazine has voted the Bookcellar Cafe the best storytelling venue in the city. Clearly, dedication to the spoken word is a high priority here. The Bookcellar hosts storytelling every Tuesday night: The general format is open telling at 7 P.M. and then a featured storyteller at 8 p.m. On other nights, poetry readings and acoustic music are part of the scene, too. And theater. And jazz. Plus coffee and pastries. In fact, there aren’t too many things the Bookcellar doesn’t do. Best of all, the entertainment is free. Call for a calendar it’s packed! The store is open from noon to 10 P.M. daily, except Mondays.
The Bookcellar Cafe is also a popular stop for cheap books, affiliated with Boston’s Ave. Victor Hugo. For more information on both, see the listing in Shopping Books.
