1770 The physician Benjamin Gale is awarded a special gold medal Cleveland Map Tourist Attractions by the London Society of Arts for an improved drill-plow for sowing grain. This mechanical representation of the motions of the planets and moons of the solar system provokes much interest and is eventually bought by Princeton University.
