RECOMMENDED LOCATIONS

BEAVERS BEND STATE PARK AND HOCHATOWN 5TATE PARK

These two state parks stand in close proximity alongside Broken Bow Reservoir, in the southeastern corner of Oklahoma. The area includes small pine-forested mountains along with the Mountain Fork River. White-tailed deer, fox, md wild turkey are among the wildlife here.

Activities: Backpacking and hiking are available on the 24-mile David Boren Trail, which connects the two parks and also crosses Army Corps of Engineers lands.

There are some equestrian trails as well. Canoeing is possible on the river. Canoe and horse rentals are available. Fishing is allowed along the reservoir and river.

Camping Regulations: Camping is restricted to several designated areas near the trail. Two of the sites are primitive, whereas the remainder are developed and accessible by road.
