WILD RIVER STATE PARK
7,000 acres. Situated in east-central Minnesota, this long and narrow park extends 18 miles along the western banks of the St. Croix River, the National Wild and Scenic River which forms the Minnesota-Wisconsin border.
In the park are mixed forests of oak and maple, pine and aspen, along with meadows, marshes, and some ponds. White-tailed deer and bald eagle are among the wildlife.

Activities: Hiking and backpacking are possible on 35 miles of mostly easy trails, which are also groomed for cross-country skiing in the winter. Snowshoeing is another option.
About 20 miles of trails are open to horseback riding. Canoeing and fishing are available on the river, and canoes may be rented in the park. Hunting is prohibited.
Camping Regulations: There are five backpack camping areas and 12 canoe campsites. Primitive camping is restricted to these sites. Visitors must register at the park office.
