The Superior Hiking Trail is another scenic new trail in Minnesota. When completed it will be over 250 miles long. The trail follows along the North Shore of Lake Superior from Duluth to the Canadian border, traversing lands of Superior National Forest aCs well as state parks, state forests, and private lands.
There’s some rugged terrain here, with rocky ridges, knolls, bluffs, gorges, and waterfalls, and many panoramic views of Lake Superior. The trail is designed for foot travel. During winter it’s suitable for snowshoeing but not cross-country skiing.
Camping Regulations: Campsites have been established every few miles along the trail, and these are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
When the trail is on National Forest or state forest lands, camping is also allowed elsewhere, although campsites should be well off the trail and away from water sources. On state park and private lands, camping is restricted to designated sites.
