Massachusetts Ave Cambridge; (617) 547-9363 This three-story Central Square building (formerly occupied by Joy of Movement) continues to run the facility as a place to take dance classes, but also features a full schedule of dance performances. Ticket prices are $7 to $10, very reasonable for top-notch dance concerts. Spring and fall are the busy seasons, with two to three performances per month. The striking feature of the New Dance Complex is the diversity of dance styles seen here. Past performances have included modern pas de deux, tap ensembles, flamenco, yoga, African dance, martial arts, and even belly-dancing. Call for details.

Ballantyne and Co. became the manager On 9 January 1913 the SS Fadrelandet was on passage from Kvafjord in northern Norway for Stockton-on-Tees with a cargo ofiron when she was wrecked on Goswick Sands. The Holy Island’s No. 2 RNLI lifeboat, the Edward and Eliza, was launched early on the morning of Friday, 10 January and rescued 14 members of her crew; the remaining four crewmen were taken off by rocket apparatus. A heavy southeasterly gale with foggy weather was prevailing at the time. On the first attempt the lifeboat was unable to save the men due to the tide, and to effect a rescue the lifeboat had to be transported four miles over sand and through broken water. The Fadrelandet was an iron-hulled 1,556-ton steam cargo ship, completed as Yard No.7 by Martens Olsen and Co. at Bergen and was launched on 25 July 1884 for P.G.
