Thorntons offers classics with or without a twist You can get a plain hamburger or grilled chicken sandwich ($4.95 and $5.45 respectively), but Mine recommends more exciting versions such as the Cajun Melt Down burger, spiced and topped with cheese, salsa, and hot peppers ($6.25). Pea pods, mushrooms, mozzarella, and teriyaki top the Chinatown chicken sandwich ($5.95). There are plenty of vegetarian options, like the Fens, a pita stuffed with avocado and other veggies ($5.45).
Enormous salads are another specialty here. A small Caesar salad goes for just $2.75. Entrees include a halfrack of pork ribs ($7.95) or fish and chips ($8.95). Thorntons’ popular brunch is served every day (yeah!), with Belgian waffles topped with whipped cream and strawberries for $4.95. And you thought all you could get around here was peanuts and Cracker Jack Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, seven days a week. clean, cozy dining room.
The menu offers various combinations of the basics: tacos, burritos, enchiladas. Get any two on a plate with beans and rice for $5.95, or any three for $7.35. Be sure to try one of the platters featuring mole chocolate sauce, a traditional cooking sauce that is not sweet but very tasty.
There are many other plates to choose from, and just about all of them are priced around $6 to $9. Go for the chalupa ($6.50), a flour tortilla with ground beef and pork; or one of the seafood entries, such as fried shrimp in onions, garlic, peppers, tomatoes, and white wine, served with rice and beans ($8.50). Wash it all down with a bottle of Te-cate, or, for something a little different, a glass of mango juice.
