King Tut is part of the influx of Middle Eastern shops around Boston, and a very good one indeed. This place takes a great deal of care with the quality of the food and the service.
It’s strictly a take-out shop, located across the street from the Brookline Village T station, and so there is also a selection of hot drinks and pastries, both American and Mediterranean.
But the specialties are things like falafel or hummus and tabouli sandwiches (each $3.40), big and delicious; finger-sized stuffed grape leaves (350 each); warm, thick spinach pies ($1.50); and couscous salad ($4.95 a pound), crammed with diced peppers, scallions, carrots, and raisins for a taste that starts out slightly sweet, then kicks in with a bit of spice.
This tiny storefront is only open Mondays through Fridays and usually closes around 6 P.M. though you may find the door still open even later. If the lights are on, come on in, said the friendly man behind the counter.
