WE’RE TALKING TO: Sarah Parish

The TV, film and theatre actress, 47, talks about her passions, dreams and real life.

1. HOW DO YOU FIND THE ENERGY TO JUGGLE MOTHERHOOD WITH YOUR ACTING CAREER?

‘It’s all about looking after yourself as best you can. I juice first thing every day, using apple, carrot, celery, cucumber, yellow pepper, lemon, beetroot and ginger with a teaspoon of Go Greens (£14.99 for 250g; gonutrition. com) or GoFiga (£9.99 for 50g; gofiga.co.uk) powders for a little boost – it’s a great start to the day. And I have to have eight or nine hours’ sleep a night or I’m useless! I run a charity as well as acting so there’s always a lot of work to be done, but I’m really strict about family time. I try to never take things on during weekends and I don’t answer the phone after 6pm. It’s important to be able to switch off.

2. WHAT’S YOUR SECRET TO LOOKING SO YOUTHFUL?

‘I don’t think I look particularly youthful, but I hope I look healthy! I’m following The Anti Ageing Food and Fitness Plan by Rick Hay and find it achievable and sustainable. I work out five to six times a week and mix up the sessions to keep my body guessing – I like HUT try to eat clean with lots of not so much meat and lots fish; I eat what I want on I swear by IPL (intense pulsed light) treatments for sun damage.

3. ANY DREAMS YOU’D STILL LIKE TO ACHIEVE?

I am pretty happy with where I am at the moment, but there are still acting roles I’d like to explore, and I want to try writing one of these days -1 just wish there were more hours in the day!’

4. WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST PASSIONS IN LIFE?

‘I’m at my happiest when I’m at home with my daughter (Nell, aged 6) and husband (actor James Murray). Acting has been my career for 26 years and I never tire of it. The Murray Parish Trust – a charity James and I set up in memory of our late daughter Ella-Jayne Murray (who died aged eight months in 2009 due to a heart defect) is very rewarding too.’

5.DO YOU HAVE A MANTRA YOU LİVE BY?

Don’t sweat the small stuff.” Worrying unnecessarily is so bad for you. I try to live in the moment as much as possible. Worrying about what might happen or what has happened is just a waste of time and energy.’
