Transportation

-Train

Arnhem is situated close to the Dutch/German border and therefore has a good rail link to both countries. The train station, located about 1.5 km from the city center, is easily accessible by foot or bike. There are frequent trains to Amsterdam (3 hours), Utrecht (1 hour) and Rotterdam (2 hours). Travellers can also take the train to Den Bosch (1 hour), Tilburg (1.5 hours), Maastricht (2 hours) and Brussels (4 hours).

-Boat

There are numerous boat services that ply the waters around Arnhem, with departures every half an hour or so from various points in the city. The most popular routes include trips to Marken (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Skewen (a beautiful little town on a lake). Prices for these trips start at €8 per person.

-Car

If you are driving, be aware that Arnhem has one of the highest rates of traffic congestion in the Netherlands. The best way to get around is by using public transportation or renting a car.
