One time, I took my wife on a long subway and bus ride to Woodbine Raceway to see the horses race. Though it was new and exciting to her, we did not stay long at the track; for, she preferred to go window shopping at a nearby mall where I, nevertheless, enjoyed myself. Of course, she had a ball.

Just think of it. This once poor, barefoot, black boy had grown into a man; had travelled far and wide; and, had, the distinction of finally reaching Woodbine Raceway which was, perhaps, Canada’s premiere horse racing track. The aura there was simply majestic!

With freedom to decide their own destiny, Anguillians began to experience a growing and developing economy; and, a higher standard of living. So, my wife, born in 1974, was lucky to have entered the world during the better days.
