1741 Jonathan Edwards, an itinerant preacher from Northampton, Massachusetts Brasilia Map , delivers his most famous sermon at Enfield, Connecticut. 17541763 Connecticut is an active participant in the major campaigns of the French and Indian War (the North Country theater of the Seven Years’ War). During the course of the conflict, Connecticut commits to raising 28,000 troops to support the British. The actual number of Connecticut soldiers in the field falls short of this ideal, but up to 25 percent of Connecticut’s militia is on duty outside of the colony for much of the war. The war does not do too much damage to Connecticut’s economy, since farmers and merchants are able to profit from supplying various armies.
