Heat Exhaustion

This is a condition which can result from inadequate intake of water while exercising in the heat. Symptoms include heavy sweating, dizziness, fatigue, headache, and nausea. A person’s skin usually remains cool and pale. Heat exhaustion can be avoided by drinking constantly during any hot-weather activity. Stop immediately if you experience any of the above symptoms. Try to find some shade, drink water, and rest.

Heat Stroke

Heat stroke is a serious business, and in some cases can be fatal. In this condition your temperature has risen so high that the body’s thermostat, so to speak, no longer functions properly. The skin is typically very hot and flushed. It’s essential that anyone with heat stroke be taken out of the sun and cooled off as quickly as possible, but water shouldn’t be given to drink. Prompt medical assistance is normally called for.
