Downeast Maine

Downeast Maine comprises Hancock and Washington counties, although there are no hard and fast boundaries to this region. What makes Downeast unique is the great number of lakes, rivers, and streams, along with the unspoiled nature of the region.

There are plenty of places to camp and enjoy the outdoors.

Several species stand out in Downeast fishing. Native brook trout and landlocked salmon abound, and are the favorite species of Maine anglers. Additionally, Downeast Maine probably contains more high-quality smallmouth bass waters than any other part of the country.
