The island is also home to many golf courses, including some of the world's offerings that offer challenges for golfers at all levels. Here, Steve Daykin, executive director of the luxury travel agency Inspirational Travel, gets some of the best courses and deals on the island.
Belle Mare Plage, оn the еаѕtсоаѕtоf the island, has two 18-hole championship courses. The main dish is “Legends”, designed by Hugh Baiocchi and opened in 1994 and organizes the Mauritius Open every December. The “Link” is designed by Peter Allis and Rodney Wright and opened at the end of 2002. Both courses are green, and beautifully set beautifully maintained and offer challenging turns in beautiful surroundings, with water with lots of course of legends.
Guests staying at the hotel Belle Mare Plage (or the sister hotel Le Prince Maurice) enjoy free green fees in both courses throughout their stay! The complex is located on a beautiful beach and also offers several swimming pools, water sports, tennis, health and beauty club and a selection of bars and restaurants. The new Ernie Els course at the Four Seasons Resort in Anahita was built on USPGA standards and its first in Mauritius and has quickly gained praise as one of the world's great golf destinations with some of the most beautiful ocean holes among remarkable of the world. Carefully woven into the tropical landscape, the course unfolds against the green mountains and covered with a vast crystal lagoon. The resort itself is aimed at the most discerning traveler and has all the facilities and amenities expected from a world-class resort and guests will receive unlimited golf on the resort grounds.
Another recent addition to golf in Mauritius is the Tamarina Golf Estate on the west coast of the island. It is a challenging course to test players at all levels and is a must for any golfer who travels to the island. Rodney Wright built and designed 206 acres of natural golf course covered in the land is surrounded by mountains and azure waters of the ocean and unmatched in terms of layout, location, and beauty.
In the far south of Mauritius is the majestic Chteau de Bel Ombre, a unique 18-hole golf course setting surrounding a vast natural park and two hotels around the world: Heritage Awali Heritage Golf & Spa Resort Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort.
