GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN MAP NORTH CAROLINA

Located on private lands near Pisgah National Forest, this 5,964-foot mountain in northwest North Carolina has been developed as a tourist attraction. Included here are several peaks over 5,900 feet, with superb high mountain scenery.

Activities: Backpacking and hiking are available on several trails, some of which are strenuous.

Camping Regulations: Backpack camping is allowed. A permit is required and a fee charged. Designated campsites with fire rings are located along some of the trails. Camping is also permitted elsewhere, but campsites must be out of sight of trails and at least 200 feet from water sources.
