3,271 acres. Hawn State Park is in a hilly area of the Ozarks of east-central Missouri. Pickle Creek as well as the River aux Vases flow through the park, and there are pine and hardwood forests, with dogwood and wild azalea.

Activities: Hiking and backpacking are available on the 10-mile Whispering Pine Trail, which consists of two loops.

Camping Regulations: Backpackers are allowed to camp along the Whispering Pine Trail. It’s necessary to register at the trailhead, and sites must be at least 100 feet from the trail, 200 feet from any public use area, and at least one-quarter mile from entry points. Campfires are prohibited. Groups of seven or more must use designated camping areas.
