The Museum displays works in eleven galleries from a comprehensive collection of over 17,000 objects that spans the history of European, North American, and East Asian art. Areas of special strength include medieval art; European and American paintings, sculpture and prints; photography; Japanese Edo-period paintings and prints; and 20th-century Chinese painting. There are also Western and Asian prints, drawings, textiles, and decorative arts, including a renowned quilt collection.
