Produce from these fields winds up in eateries all over the Boston area (most notably, Marino’s Restaurant in Cambridge). It’s all organically grown, and reasonably priced. The tiny shop is packed with a little bit of everything: fruits and vegetables, free-range meats, eggs, hormone-free milk, bulk spices and nuts, and baked goods. Outside the food shop, the nursery sells all kinds of annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, and supplies.

In June, you can get in on the act by picking your own strawberries; in September and October, pick apples and raspberries. A central pavilion sells fresh cider and apple pies during the fall as well. At 115 acres, Marino Lookout Farm is the largest farm close to Boston. Yet everyone here is so open and friendly, you’ll really think you’re in the country. What a getaway. The farm is open daily all year round; call them for directions, seasonal hours and activities.
