RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre

Location: Just south of Innisfail. Travel south on Hwy 2, take exit 365 east, and follow the signs.

Info: Demonstrations (45-60 minutes) are held every Wednesday between Victoria Day and Labour Day weekend at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free. Large groups must book in advance. Pets must remain in your vehicle or in a secure cage by the vehicle. 403-2273346; pdstc-cdcp@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

The RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre trains dogs and handlers and provides police dogs to agencies across Canada. The centre welcomes visitors to its facilities and offers free public demonstrations during the summer.

Innisfail and District Historical Village Location: 42nd Street and 52nd Avenue, Innisfail.

Info: Open from mid-May to early September, Monday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is charged. The Innisfail and District Historical Village includes 17 pioneer buildings and a farm machinery collection. You can see the only stopping house preserved from the days of stagecoach travel between Calgary and Edmonton. Each building is furnished to interpret area history up to the 1940s. Special summer events include the Vintage Car Show (May), Canada Day celebrations, the Quilt Show (biannual-August), the Harvest Festival (September), and Christmas in the Village (November).
