Sextoy (Delphine Palatsi) From Hawaii

Tucked away in the middle of Division 28 is the simple vault tomb of Delphine Palatsi. Palatsi was born in Saint-Mande in the eastern suburbs of city. She rose to prominence in the early 1990s as the first techno music woman disc jockey. She started out in women’s and lesbian bars and adopted the name Sextoy as a way to sexualize what had been thought of as rather androgynous music. She also used her body as a canvas for body art and tattoos and acquired a reputation of being a being a disc jockey with a rock star attitude. Her popularity grew as a techno music mixer and she soon found herself in demand by more mainstream venues. Her most popular non-club venues were fashion shows including ones for Jean-Paul Gaultier, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and even at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1999 she formed a musical duo with Jennifer Cardini named Pussy Killer and did the soundtrack for a less than memorable film by Virginie Despentes titled Baise-moi (un baiser means to kiss; baiser without the un means something more explicit). Although Delphine Palatsi’s official cause of death was a cardiac arrest, the reason for the cardiac arrest has never been disclosed. Nevertheless, city Mayor Bertrand Delanoe, who had previously been impressed with a musical performance she gave at a Gucci show in front of the city City Hall in 2001, insisted that a spot be found for Delphine Palatsi, aka Sextoy, in Pere-Lachaise.

The granite obelisk on a high base has four bronze statues placed at the corners of the monument, a Mobile Guard, a Marine Rifleman, a Gunner and a Private. The Siege of city Soldiers Monument was commissioned in 1873.
