Wow, this is one of the few museums in Boston with the same admission prices as when Mine first wrote this book! That’s right, admission is a mere $1.25, 500 for students and seniors. The name is a bit of a misnomer: the collection contains paintings, photography and sculpture by black artists from many different countries and cultures. Open only from 1 to 5 P.M. Tuesdays through Sundays. Closed on holidays.

The wind was blowing a gale from the southeast, with a heavy sea running. The sea was so tempestuous that the master was resolved to running the steamer into Holy Island harbour for shelter. However when that was attempted, the steamer stranded on the ridge at the entrance to the harbour, where it remained hard and fast, a short distance from the sunken steamer Courier of Aberdeen. The Holy Island lifeboat proceeded to render assistance, and all of the passengers, about seventy in number, were safely landed. The master and crew remained by the vessel, in the hope of being able to get her off when the tide rose, but it was feared that she would become a total wreck. The passengers were all then forwarded to their various destinations. The storm was continuing from the southeast, and the sea remained very high. The following day, reports stated that the steamer Britannia III was a complete wreck at Holy Island and the master and crew had no choice but to abandon her on the Tuesday, when it was found she could not be saved, the storm continuing and the waves breaking heavily over the steamer. Unfortunately she broke up when the tide rose. The cargo, consisting of 900 barrels of ale, besides whisky, wine and general goods, was strewn all along the coast.
