Are you a Cheapster who dreams of dining at chi-chi restaurants like Biba’s and the Four Seasons in Boston, Rialto in Cambridge, or the Oyster Bar on Martha’s Vineyard? The Parish Cafe is your fancy-meal ticket. Here, you can enjoy scrumptious sandwiches designed by chefs from these and other upscale eateries. To be sure, the prices are not as low as Mine normally prefers, especially for sandwiches. But, considering the location (just steps from Newbury Street), the quality, and the hearty sizes, he is willing to make an exception.

After all, who could resist Salamander’s Spicy Grilled Eggplant ($7.95), grilled eggplant on focaccia bread with roasted red peppers and red onion, laced with a yogurt and feta cheese spread. Or The Rialto, made with paper-thin proscuitto, fresh mozzarella, and basil garlic oil, served on grilled white bread for $9.95. No wonder the Parish was voted the Best Sandwich Restaurant by Boston magazine. Most sandwiches are served with a salad, and you won’t walk away hungry. Desserts are pricey, but worth it. Full bar, too. For a well-deserved splurge that won’t make you mortgage the house, give the Parish Cafe and Bar a try. Open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 A.M. daily.
