YELLOW RIVER STATE FOREST

Yellow River State Forest is located in the northeast corner of IOWA. It's a hilly, mostly-forested area of hardwoods with pine and other conifers, open meadows, and some beautiful creeks. There are also nice views from limestone bluffs. Wildlife includes deer and wild turkey.

Activities: A 20-mile Backpack Trail winds through one unit of the state forest, and there are three shorter hiking trails.
