This quaint garden shop is part of the McGill Rose Garden, a public garden bursting with 1,000 different varieties of roses and decorative garden art. The retail shop is houses in the former Avant Fuel & Ice Company building and is now a retail shop offering items ranging from seeds to garden-inspired artwork. The shop operates as a co-op and includes items from artists and gardeners. Mixed among the run-of-the-mill garden items stocked at all of the big-box retailers are some unique finds like paintings and pottery made by local artists. Outside, you’ll find traditional mass-produced pieces for the gardencement birdbaths, gargoyles, and cutesy rabbitsbut the selection and prices are far better than other retailers. During the growing season, fresh herb plants and cut herbs from the on-site herb garden are also offered for sale.
