Also known as the Samuel Adams Brewery, this is another place to see how one of America’s best beers is made. This is an actual factory with a tour that explains the history of Samuel Adams (both the patriot and the beer), brewing, the German Beer Purity Law, and more. Best of all, they give free samples. Tours are given every Thursday and Friday at 2 rm. and on Saturdays at noon, 1 P.M. and 2 RM. A donation of $1 is requested, and proceeds benefit the Boys &
Girls Clubs of Boston.

Many of the passengers were still in their beds and at first totally unaware of what had happened, then panic broke out. Some of the crew and passengers scrambled into a lifeboat without clearing both ropes just as the captain ordered the great paddle wheels be put into reverse in an attempt to pull the ship back off the rock. The lifeboat overturned and was swamped by the paddles. The engines were stopped, but too late to save most of the people in the boat. As the vessel began to fill up with water, several people knelt in prayer on the quarter deck with a Rev. Mackenzie. In half an hour she went down, sucking many of the people down with her. Only 8 feet of mast were left showing and the sea was filled with bodies and screaming, dying people. Before she went down the mate managed to burn two rockets and a blue light, but to no avail. One seaman, who was a passenger at the time, was in attendance with an invalid gentleman and by almost superhuman exertions managed to save himself.
