IS Dojo’s Noodle Bar, 1-2 Miller’s Yard, Mill Ln. (363 471). Whips out enormous plates of noodles for less than £6. Open M-Th noori-2:30pm and 5:30-1 lpm, F-Su noon-4pm and 5:30-llpm. O

Rainbow’s Vegetarian Bistro, 9a King’s Parade (321 551). A tiny, creative nook that features delicious international vegan and vegetarian fare. All entrees £7.30. Open M-Sa llam-llpm.

Nadia’s, 11 St. John’s St. (568 336) and 16 Silver St. An uncommonly good bakery serving wonderful flapjacks and quiches (90p-£1.20). Takeaway only. Sandwiches £2. Muffins 90p. Open daily 8am-5pm. O

Tatties, 11 Sussex St. (323 399). Dedicated to one of the most popular dishes in England, jacket potatoes. Fillings range from butter (£2) to Philly cheese and smoked salmon (£5.75). Open M-Sa 8:30am-6pm, Su 10am-5pm. O

Hobbs’s Pavillion, Parker’s Piece (367 480), off Park Terr. Renowned for imaginative, rectangular pancakes, Hobbs’s offers views across Parker’s Piece, jaunty jazz, and a Mars bar and ice cream pancake (£4). Dinner is standard English fare (£9-14). Open Tu-Sa noon-2:15pm and 6-9:45pm.

Restaurant 22, 22 Chesterton Rd. (351 880). Offers a 3-course, top-notch set menu that changes monthly (£24.95). Reservations necessary. Open Tu-Sa 7-9:45pm.
